写真技術の特殊技法の一つ。

2種類の薬品を調合し、紙などに薬液を塗布し、光を当てて写真を焼き付ける。

この技法で特徴的なのは、紫外線にのみ反応することである。

なので、紫外線を含まない光の下であれば、明室での作業が可能。

紫外線に当たった部分が化学反応を起こし、青色に変化する化学反応を利用して像を定着させる。

得られる像は白黒写真の「黒」が「青」になるイメージ。

像の諧調(色のグラデーション)の濃淡はネガ、薬品を塗布する量、紫外線に当てる時間などで調節が可能。

この特殊技法を「青写真」またの名を「日光写真」とも言う。
